The triangle 66 (factory mark) usually was erased and later just left off on almost all the later MAK-90s, which would indicate you have an early post-Bush1-ban rifle.

Sometimes you can get an idea of import year by the serial number itself, but even then I have seen pre-ban 56S with a higher number than a marked MAK-90. Welcome to the group!!! Generally only the 19 had the 93 and 94 as the first two digits of the serial number, but as I have said here to others, with the Chinese the only rule was there were no rules. Look forward to great discussions on here, Bryan.

Lol somebody teach me how to figure out this rifles history. No one else that has posted about their maks having similar features. But it does have a flash suppressor on the barrel (I assume someone put it on after buying it but still had to have a threaded barrel). I know it isn't a pre ban because it has the thumb hole stock. Cara Mencari Serial Number Corel Draw here. Post-ban receiver and claim it as a pre-ban. Is there any list of preban serial number ranges for Norinco. The fit and finish of Poly Tech rifles pre or post ban are the best of all. Norinco MAK-90 Model of the Kalashnikov AK-47.

Some had 90 added to the serial number that denoted the year.

MAK-90, a civilian, semi-automatic version of the AK-47 NHM-90, 1994–2004 gun ban model, w/1.5mm stamped receiver. I have seen a list of importers that imported the mak and sportarms wasn't on the list. Oh and my serial number starts with QH 41**** then MAK-90 sporter is engraved right below (looks like a child did it lol) also it has SportArms Miami, Fl stamped on it too. I have heard that, that triangle makes the rifle more 'desirable'? Why is that.? I don't see anything that would resemble the year. I have done some research and found out the year should be somewhere in the serial number on the left side of the rifle. I am sure with a state planned economy, that one type of sheet steel was more available if it was not quite perfect to purpose, well it can still suffice nicely if a little more is used in this application.Super noob here! I just put a Norinco MAK-90 on lay a way and I am curious as to what I got. I am not sure I am going the credit the Chinese with such good production management. This could eliminate the manufacturing step of hardening. Thus even if the steel is softer the greater volume of it will keep the axis holes from deforming. It is also possible to substitute more steel that is not as hard. It is possible to use more of a lesser steel to do the same job. Stamped is lighter, requires a much smaller mass of high quality steel only for the trunnion and easier to produce.Įven in stamped receivers the quality of the sheet steel can vary. Old school, expensive in steel volume and man hours. The Galils and Valmets are forged and milled. Short term savings, until they determine that being able to produce their own small arms is a priority, but, that is a different year's budget. The factory bought by Sako and Sako was purchased by Beretta. The Finns prioritized aircraft, and trimmed funds from the budget from various places including Valmet small arms. Valmet's are preban, same as some IMI Galils, so no 922r, either. The Valmet also has a thicker barrel, single hook trigger & double hammer (in semi version), and a specially reinforced receiver. Also, the writer is comparing to a stamped Valmet, not the milled version (forerunner of a Galil). Eventually, Finland's state-owned weapons factory merged with Sako, which stopped production of military arms (Valmet/Sako Rk 95).īear in mind that the Galil has a double hook trigger, too. Basically, it had become too expensive for Finland to produce their own very high quality weapons. 7.62x39, anyone? )įinland started importing Chinese guns for the same reason people will shop at Walmart - cheap prices. Any truth? I wouldn't trip out over this article, as there's plenty of subjective opinion written into it. Smoother trigger on the AK? More rugged than the Galil? Are we giving anything up with the Galil's receiver thickness? Hell, mine feels like a tank.

Does the Galil not? I am pretty greenhorn on this stuff. Is there any truth to this statement? This is the first I have ever heard of the Galil's receiver being compared to anything really, and they say the Valmet uses the same 1.5mm thickness as the Type 56.
